THE QUALITIES OF A GOOD TEACHER

A teacher is a very valuable name in the world since the beginning of the civilisation. Teachers are the future makers of the mankind.After parents,a teacher is the most influencing person in ones life. Teaching is not just a profession rather it is an art to make students ready to face the upcoming life. In some old books and scriptures it is written that the teachers have more importance and respect than the parents.

Even some preachers and scholars also said that a teacher should be given more respect than GOD,because only a teacher is the one who introduced the power of God to you. A teacher is an extra ordinary person in your life who has so many qualities, skills, efforts and capabilities that makes a small plant into a grooming tree. Parents can make you understand how to hold a pencil or pen but, a teacher teaches you how to write and make the history with it. That is why so many successful people gives GRATITUDE to their teachers in most of their speeches. 

Some teachers are very loving and caring,while some are very hard and strict. Besides, their strict ness has a very perfect art of life hidden in it. Their nature and style of teaching always put a mark on our life forever. No teacher is bad rather all of them are good but,there are some qualities that a GOOD TEACHER has. Let's try to figure them out with the following tips:

1. Perfection:  To be or being a good teacher,one should have the perfect qualification and knowledge of his/her field and subject. A teacher should have the specialised knowledge like degree or certificate of the subject which he/she is going to teach. It will become very easy to teach a thing that we already knows. However,in so many places many teachers have to teach the students about the subjects in which they are not specialised or interested to teach. May be there are some faculty problems but,the results will not be so good. Therefore teachers should have the perfection in the subjects which they are going to teach. Surely, we can call this,a quality of a good teacher.

2. Dedication :  We all do our work for earnings. Getting profits in business and getting salaries in our jobs.Likewise a teacher is also getting paid for what they teach in schools, colleges, universities, institutions, academics faculty etc. Most of us do our work leniently and most of us do it with complete dedication. Being punctual, being clear and sharp with our work,doing the work in proper ways are the parts of dedication to our work. A good teacher is always dedicated to his/her job or profession. Teaching with dedication sets and example in front of the students with which they can realise the importance of what they are listening or being taught. A dedicated teacher is always remembered by his/her dedication for teaching and it is really a quality of being a GOOD TEACHER. 

3. Passionate :  Any work which is done by passion has 100 % chances to get succeed. Similarly, in the profession of teaching it implies with maximum surity of getting positive results. Most of the teachers,just teach for getting paid but,most of them do not. There are so many teachers who has the passion of teaching. They are always ready to teach anywhere and every where. Without teaching they feel emptiness in their life and they always looking for a chance to spread whatever knowledge they have. Inspite of having good sources of earnings and enough wealth,they are teaching just for their passion. They usually take it as their hobby too. They can't stop themselves as and when they got a chance to teach. Precisely, the passion of teaching is really a quality of being a GOOD TEACHER. 

4. Loving and Caring :  More often it is said that a student learns either with love or by terror. A loving and caring teacher is just like a mother to the students in most of the cases. Even most of the little kids starts finding their mother's image in their teachers. The loving nature makes a close  bonding between a teacher and a student. While the caring nature makes a student more satisfied and fear free. These two qualities of a teacher helps them to teach without any hustle or unfair behaviour. One should consider about these two qualities of love and care in any field of professionalism and the results will be too good. Everyone among us still remember our childhood teachers who taught us with the very best of their love and care and we still got a sudden jolt as we think about those days. It's quite emotional. So,we can say that teaching with love and care are too very important qualities of a GOOD TEACHER. 

5. Good speaking and listening : A good human being speaks softly and gently and likewise he/she listens in a good manner too. In the field of teaching,listening to each and every students about their queries and problems is very difficult task. After listening properly and providing the best possible solutions is really fascinating. Speaking politely and in a soft manner spreads the blossom in the heart of the listener and freshen their minds too. A good listener can be good speaker when it comes to the determination and dedication towards the related subject. Many times we heard that some lecturers are very soft spoken and the students never miss his/her class. Likewise some lecturers or teachers listen the problems of the students very carefully that is why all the students prefer to take their problems to that teacher. Surely these two qualities are much worthy to be a GOOD TEACHER. 

6. Supporting : Giving or providing some extra support to the needy students is an important task and indeed it's a quality of a good teacher too. Most of the students are very shy,most of the students are quite confused,some of them gets anger fast and some of them are so stubborn. In fact they all are capable of doing all the things. In all the cases a teacher has to give some extra support to them according to their nature respectively. Most of us had some same above problems in our childhood but at the same time we also got the Helping and Supporting hand of our teacher. A good teacher supports us not only in our studies but,they also support us in our behaviour with our family and relationships and in every aspect of life. I know very well about some teachers who are supporting so many needy students by providing them free books,stationary and free coaching too. Thus, the supporting nature is also an important quality of a GOOD TEACHER. 

7. Friendliness : " A friend in need is a friend indeed ". It is a very common phrase and spoken often times by so many people. Friendliness is a very powerful impression of care and affection. A simple friendly word can change the two strangers into the well known and familiar people. A teacher must treat the students like friends in different situations but,with a limit and this limit shouldn't be extended. We can share our those secrets with friends which we can't share with anyone in the world. A friendly teacher can easily handle the nasty things and situations that arises in the life of a student as in such situations the studies is highly affected. A teacher with a friendly nature is always a favourite and a popular one for the students of all the times. Nowadays it is so trendy teaching with making the students as friends and it really works. Being friendly with the students can change the students and the teachers as well. Friendliness helps the teacher to understand them deeply and give more hope and satisfaction in the students. Therefore we can say very firmly that friendliness is an important quality for a GOOD TEACHER. 

8. Patience : Being patient is an important quality of a good teacher. There are so many situations when you can't control your temper and start scolding or humiliating a student. This breaks the bonding between the students and the teachers, moreover a grudging and revenge taking feeling arises among the students.Patience increases the will power and helps the one to face all challenges calmly. A teacher has to handle and control the class of 20 to 40 students or sometimes more and without patience it can't be possible. Although every student has a different capability of learning and understanding which really forms a contingent situation for the teacher but,a teacher with a good patience can manage such confrontations very easily. Thus,being patient is a challenging quality for a GOOD TEACHER. 

9. Goal oriented : Likewise in every field people have to perform their duties with the set goals which they have to achieve or compete. A teacher also has to be goal oriented and set them to increase and polish the art of teaching. Setting a goal or target to complete the syllabus within the stated time is really helpful as in the extra and saved time revisions can be done. On the other hand, completion of work or syllabus in stated time enhances to do some other extra curricular activities which grooms the students to do so. When a particular subject teacher completes the task or syllabus within or before time,it helps the teacher to make a good impression on the students and to the faculty management as well. Precisely, a goal oriented teacher develops the same habits in the students too,whatever they do in their lives,they will do the things with setting a goal or target for its completion. So its really an important quality of a GOOD TEACHER. 

10. Learner : A continuous desire of learning is always a mark of ambience that creates confidence and self motivation to a person and its really very useful for a teacher. Daily new inventions, new studies,new discoveries,new techniques and art of teachings are being developed in the world. Taking immediate initiative, cognition and try to learn them is really must for the betterment of students by a teacher. Acquiring and accumulating new study materials,exploring new ideas,topics,concepts new style and art of teaching are the challenging part for a good learner. You must have have heard some great teachers saying that " i am still Learning and i am still a student ". They keep learning more to spread more knowledge to the world. Learning makes them more perfect in their respective fields and they provide much and more knowledge to the students. Learning is also a great quality for a GOOD TEACHER. 

11. Good Communicator : A teacher should have the quality of a good Communicator by effectively conveying the ideas, effectively explaining the thoughts and feelings . Paying full attention on the various issues of students,parents and management with proper empathy and interest is a part of being a good Communicator. More often the teachers can't communicate with the parents and can't console them properly,as a result they remains unaware about the circumstances behind the poor performance of a student. They should communicate in a good manner and make themselves aware from what actually a student feels and do in the school and at home too. Frequent and meaningful meetings with the parents shorten the gap between the teachers and the parents and improves the communication skills of a teacher and definately this become a quality of a GOOD TEACHER. 

12. Creative : Bringing new style and new methods in teaching is a part of being creative. It shows the creativity of the teacher that attracts the concentration of the students and removes all the hindrances. The creative teachers are resourceful and they always know about their ability to use the essential things beyond the way in a  sophisticated manner that leads the students to think and do their work with a unique and imaginative methods. A creative teacher also develops and integrate the different creative abilities in the students by indulging them to participate in dramas,music concerts,storytelling and music besides games and sports. The  creative teacher always think beyond the imagination and the same art is followed by their students to complete the innovative world ahead in their lives. Therefore, being creative is a significant quality of a GOOD TEACHER. 

13. Teaching with examples : Simply teaching or teaching from a regular book or study materials is not enough. Teaching without example is mere lame and outdated method. Teaching by giving more and more examples is a beautiful art that symbolizes the actual meaning of the topic. A paragraph is read by a student and the teacher explains the meaning of it with the simple translation. But, if the same explanation is given with the various examples, really clarify the actual concept and meaning of the topic and can't be forgotten easily. Now this quality enhances the memory power of the listening students too. Although it consumes a little more time but the results are always good. Moreover some kind of stability and deep thinking arises among the students and they become more eager and interested of understanding the topics. It is very effective by giving positive examples to the class attending students, this increases the concentration of the entire classroom. It is really a good method and a quality of a GOOD TEACHER. 

13. Generating curiosity : A curious mind is always a sign of an intelligent and innovative mind. It is an important task of a teacher to be curious him/herself and develop the same feelings in the students too. As we have heard " Curiosity leads to Innovation ". There are so many questions running in the minds of students and the teacher should give the proper and

satisfactory answers to them. Sometimes the teacher gets irritated from the continuous and repetitive questions of the students which they shouldn't, but at the same time the teacher can polish their array and generate the learning environment in the class. Most of the students are lacking in the classroom due to their shy nature or afraid of something and they become quiet and below average students. It's an important task of a teacher to generate curiosity in their minds for asking questions and become outstanding one. Generating curiosity is just like giving water and sunlight to a plant to make it a grown tree,generating curiosity is also like making a normal average student to the brilliant one. A teacher having such quality can be identified as a GOOD TEACHER. 

14. Encouraging : The success behind every work depends upon so many qualities,support and encouragement. As a teacher,it is really an important factor to encourage the students on their performances everytime. When a student doing good are always encouraged by all the teachers but, when a student not doing good are not be encouraged and humiliated oftentimes. Being a good teacher it is very important to encourage the weaker students more and always. Encouragement enlightens a hope in the students to do much and more better in their upcoming chances. Encouraging means to develop a winning instance in a student and besides parents, a caring teacher can do it very well. The encouraging teachers are always be favorable for the students and surely they can leads them to win every competition and completing every task or project very well. Thus, we can say that encouragement is a quality of a GOOD TEACHER. 

15. Coordinating with colleagues : Having a good understanding with students, warm communication with parents truly good. Besides this,a good coordination with colleagues and interactions on various issues, innovative ideas,new techniques,strategies, and policies for the betterment of school and students is also a great work of a teacher. Teachers also works as a team and without a coordination it is impossible to achieve a target or goal. Moreover,this coordination implants a good impression on the students and on the outside world as well. A good coordination makes the teachers friendly and helps them to build a successful institution. Although this is not a part of their job but,an idle remark for the students as the same thing they will see and learn. It really helps in their bright future always. By coordination means giving every possible help to the other teacher in their respective fields or subjects and this act strengthen and improves the bonding among them. This is also a quality of being a GOOD TEACHER.

16. Teaching with Fun : Most of the students can't concentrate in a 45 minutes class and continuous classes without any break. Getting bored or tired is a human behaviour. So,its really very important to either give often breaks of put some fun in the classes. Teaching with fun is very influential and attractive too as it reconnect the concentration of the students and improves their interest too. Likewise teaching with examples, this method of teaching with fun is highly accepted methods in the advance teaching. The students start loving that particular class where the teachers give some little fun with teaching. Precisely, it is a quality of a GOOD TEACHER. 

There might be so many other qualities of a good teacher but the above few needs to be considered in my humble opinion.
